FIRSSt (Food Intake Recording Software System), part of GIMME-5 Interactive Multimedia Education, was part a collaborative study between the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Smilex. FIRSSt was a nutritional behavior data acquisition program for fourth grade children.

The goal of this research project was to develop innovative computer-based intervention strategies for nutrition education and to encourage children to increase their servings of fruits and vegetables to five per day. Smilex’ role was to execute two interactive multimedia programs including a food intake reporting system, and a nutrition education and intervention program.
