Retratos de la Vida Real, on the web and DVD, is a culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate, media rich program on breast cancer screening aimed at Spanish-speaking women over 20 years of age who have limited reading capabilities. While viewing the interactive telenovela story, women learn about the recommended screening guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer.

Retratos was developed by the Office of Outreach and Health Disparities at the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine. Programming and production management of the online and DVD version was provided by Smilex.

Retratos is for Spanish speakers and can be viewed at www.bcm.edu/retratos
