A Patchwork of Life: One Woman's Story is a web-based and DVD decision-support program for patients with breast cancer. Patchwork uses a combination of soap opera style photo and video segments and interactive learning modules to assist women diagnosed with breast cancer in making informed treatment decisions about their surgical treatment options (e.g., lumpectomy or mastectomy). The program can be accessed at www.bcm.edu/patchworkoflife .

Patchwork was developed by the Office of Outreach and Health Disparities at the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Programming and production management were provided by Smilex.

BCM received a Web Health Award for Patchwork of Life in 2008.
